COVID-19 Update

We appear to be on the downside of our COVID-19 situation and we look forward to making some announcements very quickly about how we will proceed going forward. Please watch for announcements coming this week with an update.

The church office will tentatively reopen on Tuesday, December 1. Office hours will be Monday - Friday, 9 am - 2 pm.

This is a fluid situation.  We will continue to respond as things develop.

Please be in prayer for healing, for guidance, and for each other.

Going forward:

  • First, please pray for all who are ill.
  • Also please pray that we don’t have an outbreak.
  • Please treat one another with love and care.
  • Be thankful in all things.  God gives us peace when we count our blessings rather than obsess on our challenges.

Be safe and be blessed.

Grace to you and Peace,
-Jim Hollister, Pastor

QuietChurch

QuietChurch plans to host two QuietChurch online quiet worship sessions on

The worship sessions are online, free, and open to all. Just join us online via Jitsi (a community driven online platform, no annoying registrations or accounts needed).

The December 7, 2020, session occurs during the traditional Advent Season—a time of spiritual expectant waiting. The December 21, 2020, occurs during Winter Solstice and Advent—waiting and the longest night of the year.

As the fields grow barren, winter sets in (at least in the northern hemisphere), cardinals stand out on the bare tree limbs, warm gloves go on, darkness presses, and the sometimes frantic Christmas rush descends, this time of year, seems particularly appropriate to gather in simple, quiet, reverent worship.

More information about QuietChurch can be found at www.quietchurch.org.

Incarnation - Rediscovering the Significance of Christmas
Join us for a Special Advent

His parents gave him the name Jesus. But the prophets, the shepherds, the wise men, and the angels addressed him by other names. They called him Lord, Messiah, Savior, Emmanuel, Light of the World, and Word Made Flesh. Along with Incarnation: Rediscovering the Significance of Christmas, by best-selling author Adam Hamilton, this  Advent we will examine the names of Christ used by the gospel writers, exploring the historical and personal significance of his birth. Starting November 29, our church family will have the opportunity to come together to remember what’s important. In the face of uncertainty and conflict, Christians reclaim the Christ child who brings us together, heals our hearts, and calls us to bring light into the darkness. That opportunity will come in two ways:  Incarnation will be our theme for worship and we will offer small group studies using this book as our starting place for Bible Study and discussion on the first four Tuesdays of December.

We’ll have a daytime (9:30 am) and an evening (7:00 pm) group every Tuesday, so start thinking about what would work best for you.  Information can be found at countryside-church.org/pages/advent-2020

Now more than ever, we invite you to reflect upon the significance of the Christ child for our lives and world today! Make your plans to join us as we seek to make the weeks leading up to Christmas 2020 the best yet.
