Half Truths Worship Series

True or false:

  1. Everything happens for a reason.
  2. God helps those who help themselves.
  3. God won't give you more than you can handle.
  4. God said it, I believe it, that settles it.
  5. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

All true? Not so fast.

They are simple phrases. They sound Christian—like something you might find in the Bible. We’ve all heard these words. Maybe we’ve said them. They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways.

Join us along with Adam Hamilton in searching for the whole truth by comparing common Christian clichés to the message and ministry of Jesus.

Beginning Sunday, January 17, 2021, we will look at these commonly used expressions and explore what may be a more Biblically-inspired substitute for each.

You can also join us for our video Bible study every week beginning January 19. We will meet by Zoom on Tuesdays at 7 pm and Wednesdays at 9:30 am.

Announcement Deadline

Please submit any bulletin announcements or Prayer List updates before 12 pm on Thursday to be included in the following Sunday’s bulletin or in the 10 am video service. Please email announcements to or call the office at (570) 587-3206.

For the past several weeks the we have been experiencing issues with delays in mail delivery from the U.S. Postal Service. People have called the church office to report that checks they sent to us in the beginning of December have not not cleared their bank. A few people told us that their mail to us was returned by USPS and marked as "undeliverable."

If your check has not cleared your bank, you can call Jeff at the church office (570-587-3206) to check if it has recently been received.
